Eben-Emael

A small village of 1700 inhabitants, Eben-Emael has a heavy historical past. Built after the first World War, its fort was reputed to be impregnable and its mission was to protect Belgium from a new foreign invasion.

Its rapid capture on the night of May 10 to 11, 1940 by the Wehrmacht resulted in the death of 24 Belgian soldiers and marked Belgium's entry into the Second World War. Today the fort is a museum.

A symbol of peace built after the Second World War, the Eben-Ezer Tower is the work of Robert Garcet.

Its construction is based on many biblical elements, it is in particular surmounted by the 4 cherubim of the Apocalypse. The Tower is now a museum.
